A competent compact SUV, the Nissan Kicks is inoffensive to look at and priced just right. Price-wise, the Nissan Kicks starts about $3,000 or so less than the Mazda CX-30, but the latter includes more elegance in the cabin and a zippier engine. The Kicks offers a substantial advantage in cargo space (25.3 cubic-feet) over the Mazda (20.2 cubes) and Hyundai (19.2 cubic-feet). In this segment, the Kicks competes with the likes of the Mazda CX-30, Hyundai Kona and Venue, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Kia Soul. Nissan’s smallest crossover is well sculpted and looks particularly fetching with the two-tone color scheme. For an additional $1,390, the SR Premium package includes an upgraded audio system, heated front seats and steering wheel and simulated leather upholstery, among other niceties. Available in three trim levels-S, SV and SR (which is the same set as Nissan’s subcompact car, the Versa)-the Kicks starts at $21,775 and tops out at $24,335. The Kicks is a fun vehicle to own because it’s just different enough to convey its unique and peppy personality, but it’s affordable and generously equipped.įor model year 2023, the Kicks remains unchanged. Driver-assist features and technology features are plentiful Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard fare starting from the base model, as is cruise control. With seating for five, the Kicks is a subcompact crossover with an attractive price point. Introduced in 2018, the Kicks is still in its first generation and has not required much to keep it up-to-date so far. ![]()
